As a grassroots nonprofit organization, we rely on our local community to support the building of affordable homes with volunteer labor, through in-kind donations of materials and skilled labor, with financial partnerships and advocacy to raise awareness about the need for affordable housing.

Planned Giving

Many supporters who hammer and paint and give financial gifts wish they could give even more, but there is just no room in the monthly budget. With a little creativity, planned gifts can allow generous partners like you to make meaningful gifts you may have never thought possible, helping to build decent and affordable homes for families in need. These gifts also often qualify for significant tax deductions.

Wills and Family Trusts - A gift to Habitat is a wonderful way to create a memorial that lives on and helps change lives for local families for years to come. Simply ask your attorney to include a bequest to Habitat for Humanity of Hall County in your will.

Gifts of IRA Funds: Certain tax provisions allow individuals to make distributions from their IRA accounts directly to a charity without recognizing the distribution as income.

Gifts of Life Insurance: Endowments through gifts of life insurance are among the most innovative planned giving vehicles and suit the needs of many different donors. With life insurance, Habitat is designated as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, which can be used to create a philanthropic fund upon a donor's passing, allowing their surviving family to continue their charitable interests. An existing policy can be transferred and Habitat for Humanity of Hall County can be named as the beneficiary. At the time of transfer, a current deduction equal to the net cash value of the policy can be taken.

Gift Annuities - You’d like to help, but need the income, or you may have a highly-appreciated stock that pays a low dividend, but you don’t want to trigger the capital gains tax. Whether funded with cash or stock, a gift annuity will provide Habitat with needed cash flow that may be partially tax-free!

Gifts of Stock - Do you have shares on long-term appreciated stock you may consider donating? You can simply transfer these shares directly to Habitat for Humanity of Hall County.  You’ll get a full tax deduction for the entire market value, avoid capital gains, and do your part in helping to create stronger communities.

We recommend that you always consult with your tax accountant to determine the tax benefits available.

Land Donations

Finding affordable building sites in Hall County is a major challenge.

A charitable gift of land would not only mean a building site for a deserving family but donated real estate may also be deducted as a charitable contribution. Another option is to sell a building site to Habitat at a reduced price.  Both these options may qualify as a charitable contribution. We recommend that you always consult with your tax accountant to determine the tax benefits available.

If you are interested in donating or selling land, please contact the Executive Director at 678 450-5998 or email executivedirector@habitathallcounty.org
